Starting to build a property portfolio while running an Online PA business has been both exciting and eye-opening for me. After buying my first investment property, I've quickly realised that balancing both worlds requires organisation, patience and a realistic mindset. Thankfully, being an Online PA has probably prepared me better than I first thought ...

Building a property portfolio while managing a service business can be challenging

Building a property portfolio while managing a service business can be challenging

Running a service-based business means my days are already structured around managing priorities, solving problems and staying organised for clients. Those same skills have proved incredibly useful when dealing with estate agents, paperwork, maintenance issues, mortgage discussions and all the unexpected little jobs that come with property investment.

It turns out that chasing contractors isn't all that
different from chasing meeting confirmations!

What I've learned so far is that property investment is definitely not passive at the start. There is a lot to consider, especially when you are still actively working in your business every day. I still have client deadlines, calls, inbox management and all the normal responsibilities that come with being an Online PA, so finding the right balance is important.

Some days, property tasks happen in the evening, while other days I block out time specifically to deal with investment-related admin.

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to start investing in property was to build something long-term alongside my business income. Service businesses can be incredibly rewarding, but they also rely heavily on your time and energy. Property feels like a way to slowly build additional security for the future while continuing to do work I genuinely enjoy now.

I also think there is something empowering about building
two different income streams at the same time!

My Online PA business gives me flexibility, independence and regular income, while property investment gives me something to grow steadily in the background. The two actually complement each other far more than I expected.

I'm still at the very beginning of my property journey, and I certainly don't claim to know everything yet. But buying that first investment property has already taught me a huge amount about planning, confidence and taking calculated risks.

For now, the goal is simple: continue growing my Online PA business, keep learning about property investing, and, hopefully, add more properties to the portfolio over time.

Until next time ...
